In 1988, Phil Collins played the leading part in the blockbuster film Buster, directed by David Green. Collins played the role of Buster Edwards, one of the thugs that robbed a Royal Mail train back in 1963 for an estimated £2.6 million. As a Genesis fan you might love or hate this film, but it certainly put Collins in a different light. People already knew he could play the drums and sing, but acting hadn’t occurred to most. Phil Collins did a great job at it, although the quality of the film is somewhat debatable.
The succes of the film was enormous and it made Phil Collins an even bigger star than he already was. Collins contributed several songs to the soundtrack, some of which became his biggest hits. You can find plenty of collectible pieces for this film such as cuttings, photos and posters. Some of this material is in the gallery above. In the images, you can see that Phil Collins was enjoying himself. Music remained his first priority, but if Collins had wanted to make more films, he could have met the high demand instantly.
