In september 2014 Genesis announced that a special event was going to take place. I got excited, considering it had been 7 years since their last reunion. I always wished for a new Genesis album with Phil Collins back behind the microphone, and I thought that maybe this time the stars would align for a new chapter in Genesis history. So, when the day finally came and Genesis presented their compilation R-Kive and the following Sum Of The Parts documentary, it was a huge disappointment. The fans weren’t waiting for another money maker, and Sum Of The Parts lacked all the depth and charm from earlier documentaries. But, as I’m a fan, I went to the store to get it anyway. I even have the R-Kive (hideous title and artwork) boxset shelved somewhere. I collected clippings of these releases and placed them onto the Genesis Retrospective Page. The only plus from this brief reunion was that it brought all five members from the classic lineup together in front of the camera. A big shame that Hackett’s solo work, and the man himself, got excluded from the documentary and dvd. Blame it on the BBC.
