Last Saturday I saw Ray Wilson play live for the very first time. Although the man’s played in The Netherlands many times I never took the opportunity to drive all the way to Zoetermeer or Helmond, the places he’d played before. Lately I’ve rediscovered Wilson’s catalogue and his new album The Weight Of Man is one of my favourites. In my opinion, (which a lot of people share I’m sure, considering the amount of Genesis t-shirts I saw in the audience), Wilson did a great job with Genesis. After Calling All Stations things got quiet and Ray Wilson got written out of the script, an issue he’s struggled with, he explained in interviews given years after. Still, Wilson plays a lot of Genesis music. Last Saturday’s performance included There Must Be Some Other Way, That’s All, No Son Of Mine, Land Of Confusion, Calling All Stations, The Dividing Line, Follow You Follow Me and Carpet Crawlers to name a few. The gig was filmed and recorded for a possible future release. Hopefully, because it was concert of high standards. Keep on going Ray Wilson!
