Genesis themselves probably won’t take notice to the 25th anniversary of their last studio recording Calling All Stations, but the fansites just might. Calling All Stations was Genesis’ last recording effort released on September 1st 1997 and it featured Ray Wilson on vocals, following into the giant footsteps of Phil Collins. Although the album sold quite well in Europe, in America the album was so unsuccesful that crossing the Atlantic to do a tour simply seemed a waste of time and money. Rolling Stone recently published a new interview with Ray Wilson, as did Lust For Life (114). The Scottish ex-Stiltskin frontman, who still makes music to this day, never made it a secret he felt his time with the band’s been neglected ever since he ‘got the sack’. You can read all about it here. To me, Calling All Stations was a great attempt to continue the story of Genesis. I remember buying the album from the local record store aged 14 and I still listen to it to this day. Over the years I collected lots of different formats of the album. A few days ago a collectors pack of CAS arrived with on the inside a biography of Genesis’s (by then) 30-year history and 3 collectable phonecards. I will add it to the ‘Memorabilia’ gallery soon. I also added some new clippings of this period right here. Please look on page 3 of the gallery.
